Padre António Vieira – O Poder da Palavra

‘Padre António Vieira – O Poder da Palavra’ é o título do encontro, organizado no âmbito das atividades do PDEC/UA-UM em colaboração com o Professor António de Abreu Freire, que terá lugar na Sala de Atos da Reitoria da UA no dia 20, pelas 16 horas.

O evento terá início com a projeção do documentário ‘A Pedra e a Palavra’ sobre a vida e a obra deste vulto da Cultura Portuguesa, em parte filmado na Universidade de Aveiro, a que se seguirá a  apresentação da ‘Obra Completa do Padre António Vieira’, No final da sessão promover-se-á um debate com todos os presentes.

Documentário Premiado

A Pedra e a Palavra, do realizador Joaquim Haickel, retrata a vida e a obra do Padre António Vieira através de entrevistas com especialistas em vários países onde o jesuíta atuou no decorrer da sua longa vida como missionário, político, pioneiro e profeta do Quinto Império.

O documentário foi premiado na Competição Avanca, recebendo o prémio Estreia Mundial nos Encontros Internacionais de Cinema, Televisão, Vídeo e Multimédia – AVANCA 2014 e fez parte da Selecão Oficial de Documentários do CINETROFA – Festival de Internacional de Cinema e Literatura da Trofa, 2014.

 Obra Completa

‘A Obra Completa do Padre António Vieira’ foi lançada em dezembro de 2014 pelo Círculo de Leitores, com a direção de José Eduardo Franco e Pedro Calafate e teve como mecenas principal a Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Lisboa.

Em 30 volumes e 15 mil páginas, a coleção traz a recolha, análise, interpretação e autenticação de milhares de documentos provenientes de arquivos e bibliotecas portuguesas e estrangeiras, realizada por uma equipa multidisciplinar de paleógrafos, latinistas, linguistas, filósofos, historiadores, teólogos, juristas, cientistas literários, entre outros especialistas.

‘António Vieira – The Power of the Word’ is the title of the meeting to be held at the Acts Room of the Rectory of AU, the 20th April at  4 p.m., within the activities of the DPCS / UA-UM and in collaboration with Professor António de Abreu Freire.

The event will begin with the projection of the documentary “The Stone and the Word ‘about the life and work of this figure of Portuguese Culture in part filmed at the University of Aveiro, to be followed by the presentation of ‘Complete Works of Father António Vieira’.  The session will be concluded with an open discussion.

 Documentary Awarded

In ‘The Stone and the Word’, the director Joaquim Haickel, portrays the life and work of Father António Vieira through interviews with experts in several countries where the Jesuit acted in the course of his long life as a missionary, political, Fifth Empire pioneer and prophet .

The documentary was awarded in Avanca Competition, receiving the World Premiere Film award at the International Meetings, Television, Video and Multimedia – AVANCA 2014 and was part of the Official Selection of Documentaries at CINETROFA  – International Festival of Cinema and Literature of Trofa, 2014.

Complete Works

‘The Complete Works of Father António Vieira’ was launched in December 2014 by Círculo dos Leitores Editions, under the direction of José Eduardo Franco and Pedro Calafate with funding from Santa Casa de Misericordia de Lisboa.

In 30 volumes and 15,000 pages, the edition includes the collection, analysis, interpretation and authentication of thousands of documents from Portuguese and foreign libraries archives, carried out by a multidisciplinary team of paleographers, Latin scholars, linguists, philosophers, historians, theologians, lawyers, literary scientists, and other experts.
